The comprehensive understanding of recognition and utilization of the most significant internationally traded timber species is crucial for professionals in forestry, the wood industry, timber commerce, and regulatory agencies. To support this objective, the Thünen Institute for Wood Research has developed the macroHOLZdata database into a mobile application compatible with smartphones and tablets.

The macroHOLZdata application provides several key functionalities:
